New Beginnings - Powerlifting.

So earlier in the year I mentioned that I never really had any original goals when it came to training. And, believe it or not, it took me not 1 month, not 2 months, not even 3 months but 6 months to get my training focus back after a serious personal and familial low point last Christmas.

Now, that's focus I'm talking about, not actual training! I took it very easy over the past 3 months, dabbled a bit in Strongman training, which I credit with breaking in my body all over again. I attended a one day Olympic Weightlifting seminar, which I loved, in spite of struggling with recovery, mobility and flexibility to mention just a few.

I wanted to explore it further, but I knew my current gym wouldn't really have the means for that type of training, and I didn't have the financial means to persue one-on-one training in a specialized gym either.

I approached my trainer regardless and mentioned that I was thinking about integrating some of the drills into my program at the very least, and flirt with the motions and movements for a while first. What came next was an act of God!

Another gym go-er happened to be a record holder in Powerlifting and was interested in taking someone on to train and profile for free for his new Personal Training venture. That someone was going to be me if I was up for it, to which I answered yes, absolutely!

And so it begins, my new goal, to train hard and compete as a 60kg class female powerlifter by this September. The new diet is underway and I officially began my training last night and I can't wait for more!
